CARE TIPS
Keep your Bushwakka rooftop tent performing at its best with these simple care and maintenance steps.
GENERAL HANDLING
Open zippers fully before folding to avoid straining the zipper.
Pack canvas tightly to minimise movement and prevent rubbing or holes during travel.
Secure the tent properly when closing — use extra straps on corrugated roads.
PROTECTION & MAINTENANCE
Protect metal components with lanolin spray every 3–6 months to prevent surface rust.
Maintain waterproofing by applying a canvas reproofer spray regularly.
Check mounting bolts often — they can loosen with vibration during travel.
CLEANING
After every trip:
Brush off dirt and debris with a soft brush
Clean canvas with lukewarm water and mild, non-detergent soap
Rinse well and allow to air-dry completely before packing
CONDENSATION CONTROL
Wipe away interior moisture before packing.
Keep windows or vents slightly open for airflow.
Use moisture absorbers when camping in cold or humid conditions.
PREVENTING MOULD
Always fully dry the tent before storage.
If packed wet, open it at home to dry ASAP — use a fan in humid weather.
Store in a shaded, ventilated area with a breathable cover if needed.
ZIPPER CARE
Use a soft brush to remove sand/dust from zipper tracks.
Apply a silicone-based lubricant or wax to keep them running smoothly.
Always open/close zippers fully when packing.
RUST PREVENTION
Clean all metal parts with fresh water after coastal trips.
Re-apply lanolin or rust-preventive spray regularly.
STORAGE
Store the tent in a dry, shaded, ventilated area, preferably off the ground.
If stored on a vehicle, ensure it’s under a breathable cover and fully dry.
WEIGHT & LOADING
Avoid exceeding the tent’s maximum load rating (including bedding, gear, and accessories).
FITTING ADVICE (IMPORTANT)
Warranty may be void if the rooftop tent is not mounted using load-rated brackets or racks.
Always use the supplied mounting hardware or Bushwakka-approved mounting systems (as listed in the official Fitting Advice guide).
Ensure all brackets, rails, and bolts are tightened before and after trips.
If unsure about your vehicle’s roof load rating, contact Zone Offroad for advice.
